About Oulouy

Oulouy is a dance artist, choreographer, and cultural curator from Côte d’Ivoire and France, based in Barcelona.
Through movement, he explores who we are, where we come from, and where we are going.

"My body speaks the language of African street dances  ( Coupé Décalé, Ndombolo, Afrohouse, Azonto and more…) but also carries stories of identity, resistance, and joy. For me, dance is not just expression; it’s memory, it’s power, it’s connection"

Oulouy founded OYOFE, a cultural platform that has become home to many: a festival, a studio, a company, and most of all, a community. OYOFE is Oulouy´s way of giving back, creating bridges between Africa and its diaspora, between street and stage, between the past and the future.

"I am part of a generation of artists who believe that African dances are not just entertainment! They are archives of wisdom, tools of resistance, and instruments of freedom."

About the Workshop

Oulouy will be teaching an Afro Fusion Choreography class, which blends various African street dances. African street dances often influence and incorporate elements from each other, and Afro Fusion highlights these connections through dynamic choreography.

Open level

The workshop is open level which means all levels are welcome. But it will not be suitable for beginners therefore we recommend some dance experience. Not neccesarily in the same style as the workshop.

The workshop will be held in english.

The day after the workshop Oulouy will perform his solo Black at Dansstationen.
Date: 14th April
Time: 19.30 (40 min)
