Decolonizing the stage - towards an anti-racist and feminist stage

In this course we will examine the stage, representations and mechanisms of power in the context of the stage from the perspective of intersectional feminism and decolonial discourse.

The course will consist of lectures, discussions and group work. We will start from the basics, review terminology, theoretical background, and delve into issues of power and representation. Towards the end of the course, we will move to the stage.

The aim of this workshop to provide students with both a theoretical basis and concrete tools to explore the mechanisms of power, otherness and representation, and to work more sustainably and ethically in an ever-changing and diversifying environment.

The workshop will be facilitated by choreographer and artistic director Sonya Lindfors.
