About Nubian Néné

Nubian Néné, a Montreal native and New York-based dancer/choreographer, is known for weaving Street and Club dance into a captivating and distinctive style. Rooted in her Haitian heritage, her resilience and dedication have propelled her into multiple roles—producer, curator, visual artist, teacher, and creative visionary. Mentored by innovators of Street and Club dance cultures, she is deeply committed to preserving the African diasporic legacy through pedagogy, cultural engagement, and artistic expression.

In 2012, she founded A Lady in the House Dance Company (ALITH) to explore the depth of street and club dance while integrating personal, cultural, and spiritual narratives. ALITH pushes artistic boundaries through multidisciplinary mediums such as drawing, film, and audio recordings. Notable works include Traceable (2025), an 80-minute solo merging dance and visual art inspired by mental health, DUALIS (2021), a solo work inspired by identity created for another dancer, and she debuted Signature Verses Liberation (2022), an architectural, dance, and drawing-inspired art installation, solidifying her ability to merge visual and performative art.

As the creator, curator, and artistic director of Waack Bazaar, and ALITH, Nubian Néné continues to redefine movement, storytelling, and artistic collaboration, expanding the possibilities of dance and its connection to other art forms.

About the workshop

THE ESSENCE EXPERIENCE:
The Essence Experience is a dynamic class format rooted in Waacking, designed to help you uncover and express your unique essence. Through intentional movement, the foundational elements of Waacking are awakened—offering students a full spectrum of motion to explore, embody, and align with the rhythm of music.

Class includes focused drills and both solo and group exercises aimed at deepening self-connection, enhancing body and spatial awareness, and developing character. The ultimate goal? Freedom, authenticity, and liberation through dance.

This is a high-energy experience that thrives on honesty, presence, and self-determination.
Requirements: A deep love for music—and unapologetically being a Punk.

Open level

The workshop are open level which means all levels are welcome. But it will not be suitable for beginners therefore we recommend some dance experience. Not particularly in the same style as the workshop.

The workshops will be held in english.
